Elsanor History
Elsanor School was first built around 1913 through the generosity of a Dr. Norton, a Chicago dentist, who offered land and a money gift if the school would carry his wife Elsa's name, Elsa Norton. Elsanor was born!
In September 1925, the Elsanor Consolidated School replaced the three one-room schools of Elsanor, Sumatra, and Seminole. The new school had the first electric power service in the county.
While there have been many changes and updates since its creation, the Elsanor schoolhouse has continued to serve the families of this community, providing a legacy of quality education, strong roots, and family ties.
Elsanor School celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2013.
