  About The School

A History of Elsanor School

The original building.

Elsanor School was built around 1913 through the generosity of a donation by Dr. Norton, a Chicago Dentist, who offered the land and money as a gift if the school would carry his wife's name; Elsa Norton=Elsanor.  We still have the original teacherage on our campus.  It has undergone some renovations and has been Historically marked.  It is now used as a Kindergarten classroom.  A new building was opened in 1987 following a fire that took most of the school.  Since then the school has grown from 135 students to around 280 students per year.
